Sheldon Manufacturing Reciprocating Water Baths deliver precise temperature control and a smooth reciprocal shaking motion. Temperature and oscillation controls feature an easy to read P.I.D. microprocessor temperature controller and an independent safety thermostat.
The bath may be used with or without oscillation. Shaking speed is variable from 20 to 200 oscillations per minute, and the stroke length can be adjusted to three separate settings: 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5 inches to minimize the chance of accidental spillage. Also, the unique basket support system is designed to eliminate tank wear, yet still provide full support and free action for a heavily loaded basket.
A durable finish on the housing prevents corrosion and chipping. In addition to a stainless steel tank, the bath platform tray is designed for optimum temperature uniformity. Maximum temperature is achieved using the stainless steel gable cover, which is designed to prevent condensate from dripping onto samples and assures uniform temperature conditions.

All specifications are determined by using average values on standard equipment at an ambient temperature of 25°C (77°F) and line voltages within +/-10% of unit type (115V/230V). Temperature specifications follow DIN 12880 methodology. We reserve the right to change specifications at any time.
Does the SWBR17 Shaking Water Bath have a drain?
Yes, there is a drain on the SWBR17. As of the time of writing, it is on the left side of the unit.
What environmental conditions (ambient temperature, ambient humidity, etc.) can the SWBR shaking water baths be operated in?
The SWBR series shaking water baths are intended for indoor use between 18°C and and 40°C and no more than 80% relative humidity. The SWBR should not be operated at an altitude exceeding 2000 meters. If you would like an SWBR shaking water bath which can be operated outside of these conditions, please contact us and let us know your requirements.
Is there a minimum fill volume on the SWBR17 Shaking Water Bath?
Yes, it needs to be at least two thirds full (no less than 11.33 liters).
Can I fit tube racks in the SWBR17 Shaking Water Bath?
The screw-down tube rack holders which Sheldon makes are slightly too large for the SWBR17. If you need to use a tube rack, we recommend the SWBR27 instead.
I would like to use different clamps or racks with the SWBR17. Will I be able to affix them to the universal screw-down platform?
The threads on the universal platform are 8/32" (1/4") and the screws normally provided on the Sheldon Manufacturing flask clamps are 1/4" long. If your clamps use 1/4" screws which are approximately 1/4" in length, you can use your clamps on the SWBR17's platform.
Is the temperature control open-loop or closed-loop?
The SWBR Shaking Water Baths use a microprocessor-based closed loop temperature controller.3065 Sheldon Manufacturing 2014-09-29
